Join WIP for breakfast to learn more about South Carolina’s wealth gap and solutions to closing it.
In recent years, the national discussion surrounding inequality has focused on income. But for women, a focus on income alone is insufficient because in the gap exists more than just income issues. For women, it’s about building actual wealth! We all know that women earn only 79 cents on the dollar compared to men, but less known is the fact that women OWN only 32 cents on the dollar compared to men. For women of color, the gap is just pennies on the dollar compared to white men and women.
Specifically, we will be talking about barriers women face and what needs to be done locally to close the gap.
