Fill the Room – Stand with Women

01/28/2019, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Greenville County Square, 301 University Ridge, Greenville, SC 29601

Join us on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 5:30 PM in the Council Chambers at County Square as we address the Greenville County Legislative Delegation!

We encourage everyone in our network to take this opportunity to meet their legislators while in district. Join us in support of our legislative priorities

1) Pay Equity- South Carolina, African American women, on average, earn 53 cents compared to a white man’s dollar. White women earn 74 cents. Overall, South Carolina has a larger wage gap than the national average.

The Pay Equity bill will focus on lowering these racial and gender disparities by increasing pay transparency and eliminating an employer’s ability to ask an employee about previous earnings.

2) SC Lactation Support Act- (H 3200) The South Carolina Pregnancy Accommodations Act was signed into law with bipartisan support in 2018 and is followed by the introduction of the South Carolina Lactation Support Act. This bill would require employers to make already existing spaces available to workers to use for expressing milk.

3) 12 Month Supply- (H 3279) The 12-Month Supply bill would require insurance providers to cover a one-year’s supply of birth control at a time.

In a state where the rate of unintended pregnancy hovers around 50 percent, dispensing a one-year’s supply of birth control at a time removes a significant barrier to dependable birth control access and family planning ability.
The full agenda will be published here in the days leading up to the meeting:

Help us fill the room and encourage our elected officials to stand with women!

We hope to see you there!
