Women of the River is an all female drum group with members being enrolled tribal citizens of the Catawba Nation. We are rooted in tradition, community, and the strength of Native women’s voices. As Catawba women, we carry forward the responsibility of honoring our ancestors through song, rhythm, and language.

We hold on to our traditions by drumming our songs and creating new songs in Catawba, keeping our language and cultural teachings alive for future generations. Each beat of the drum reflects our connection to the river, our people, and the stories that have been passed down to us.

Women of the River is more than a drum group—we are a circle of women committed to cultural preservation, empowerment, and the continuation of Catawba identity. Through our songs, we uplift our community, represent our Nation, and ensure that the voices of our women are heard, respected, and remembered.
