WREN SPEAKS OUT IN OPPOSITION TO SC ABORTION BAN

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA- Today, after hundreds of South Carolinians raised their voices at the Statehouse against any further abortion bans, the House of Representatives voted to advance H 5399, an extreme, total abortion bill. After the bill receives third reading in the House, it will go to the Senate.

Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network (WREN) joined Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, ACLU-SC, SC United for Equality and Justice and hundreds of advocates at the Statehouse to demand that lawmakers vote NO to Bill H.5399. The bill will ban abortions from conception and put the lives, health, economic well-being, and safety of people in jeopardy.

Ann Warner, WREN CEO, stated, “We are outraged that the House voted in opposition to the will of the people of South Carolina today. They are putting our lives and our futures on the line by advancing this radical legislation. This fight now goes to the Senate. We know that the legislators are listening and feeling the pressure. We won’t let up. WREN will never stop fighting for the health, economic well-being, and rights of the people of South Carolina.”
