WREN joins our partners in celebrating Trans Day of Visibility in South Carolina
by WREN Staff on Mar 23, 2023
WREN believes in a world where all people, no matter their race, financial status, or gender identity, are safe and thriving. We advocate and fight for freedom.
This year, WREN joins our partners in celebrating Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) in South Carolina. Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV), is an international day designated to lifting up transgender and gender-nonconforming (TGNC) communities and their issues.
According to the National Center for Transgender Equality, there are about 1.4 million transgender people in the United States. TDOV takes place on March 31st each year to celebrate transgender and non-binary people and raise awareness of discrimination faced by Trans people worldwide.
Our Stance
WREN does not support attacks on personal freedoms and bodily autonomy and we are in opposition to these attacks on the transgender communities.
WREN is working alongside our coalition partners like SC United for Justice and Equality to bring community together, help educate the public and celebrate South Carolina’s trans community.

What does Transgender Mean?
Transgender is a general term that describes people whose gender identity, or their internal sense of self, does not match the sex they were assigned at birth. Some transgender people don’t identify with one gender exclusively or the concept of gender at all, these people may use words like gender-nonconforming, gender-expansive or genderqueer.
How can I show my support?
You can demand lawmakers Vote NO on Trans Bans.
WREN is working alongside our coalition partners like SC United for Justice and Equality to bring community together, help educate the public and celebrate South Carolina’s trans community.
Our South Carolina lawmakers are currently debating on harmful, anti-trans bills. If these bills are approved, South Carolina will have in place laws that creates a barrier for transgender and non-binary people to access an array of affirming services that may include medical, surgical, mental health, and non-medical services.
