Position: Intern, Communications and Learning Team
Type: Part-Time
Compensation: $11/hour

Description:
The Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network (WREN) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization whose mission is to build a movement to advance the health, economic well-being, and rights of South Carolina’s women, girls and their families.
This position reports directly to the Director of Communications and Learning. This is a paid, part-time, 20-hours per week, temporary position starting May 2019 and ending in late August 2019.
Duties Include (but are not limited to):
- Assist staff in analyzing reports on email, social media, and website analytics to highlight trends and monitor progress.
- Assist with social media strategy and outreach (via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and additional social networks).
- Coordinate with organizational partners to schedule and produce Facebook Live content.
- Maintain and manage posting schedule for all social media while creating and editing content for all platforms.
- Maintain a weekly communications report and assist in blog development.
- Develop images in support of issue education campaigns.
- Assist with graphic design needs.
- Assist in event management and provide general staff support.
- Assist with media relations.
- Assist the Community Engagement Coordinator in creating new and exciting online engagement strategies and campaigns.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for the world of social media and online communications. Experience is required with print and online communications, new media, and editing.
- Previous experience with campaigns, campus organizing preferred.
- Working knowledge of Canva preferred.
- Understanding of branding principles, and how to effectively leverage visuals through social media.
- Experience dealing with public relations or brand development.
- Efficient in multitasking and delivering consistent work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility in approach and willingness to adapt when necessary.
- Interest in learning about and sharing in our mission.

Description:
The Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network (WREN) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization whose mission is to build a movement to advance the health, economic well-being, and rights of South Carolina’s women, girls and their families.
This position will report directly to the Director of Policy and Government Relations (PGR) and will provide administrative and research support for the PGR team. This is a paid, part-time, up to 20-hours per week, temporary position starting May 2019 and ending in late August 2019.
Duties Include (but are not limited to):
- Provide PGR team with support in data collection and analysis of various topics, organizations, and key stakeholders in the field.
- Assist in reviewing documents for accuracy as well as writing reports, summaries, preparing PowerPoint presentations and other WREN research products.
- Assist in data organization and management.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and distributing policy-related materials (reports, briefings, and presentations).
- Prepare correspondence, letters, meeting minutes and other communication as appropriate.
- Assist with scheduling and logistical support for internal and external meetings, including making travel arrangements, prepares expense/travel reimbursements, credit card reconciliations, and check requests.
- Contribute to implementation of overall WREN work plan and assists with special events and projects, as other job duties allow.
- Communicate regularly and proactively with PGR team about workflow and progress on key tasks.
** Due to the time of year, this internship will not offer applicants the opportunity to gain experience lobbying policymakers.
Qualifications:
- Possess a keen interest and curiosity in policy research and analysis affecting South Carolinians.
- Experience working with Excel spreadsheets and/or databases.
- Experience conducting literature reviews and other background research for specific topics.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across internal and external teams.
- Excellent relationship management, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex tasks while maintaining composure under demanding deadlines.
- Flexibility in approach and willingness to adapt when necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, show initiative, achieve goals, and meet deadlines in a fast- paced environment.
