Support S.1348 to Affirm Reproductive Rights in South Carolina
by Ashley Lidow on Jun 22, 2022

Extremist legislators have been working for decades to push abortion access out of reach. This includes forcing people to travel long distances, wait days between appointments, source childcare, and pay out of pocket without insurance coverage. We need policies that support people’s whole lives, including better access to hospitals and clinics, healthcare provided by people our communities trust, insurance that actually covers our real needs, and policies that support families and individuals to live their fullest lives. We need policies that support abortion access, liberation, and our whole lives — now.
Senators have introduced the Reproductive Health Rights Act (S. 1348) to demonstrate what legislators should be doing to improve the lives of South Carolinians.
The Reproductive Health Rights Act (S. 1348) is a bold commitment to improving the health and lives of South Carolinians. The bill would repeal existing restrictions on abortion care and affirm the rights to contraception, in vitro fertilization, sex education, and all other forms of reproductive health care. Full access to reproductive health care is essential for the health, education, economic security, and equality of all South Carolinians.

Roe must be protected but legal abortion alone has never been enough. We are fighting for abortion liberation and policies that free abortion from unnecessary legal restrictions, fund clinics, make abortion available and affordable, and let all people know that they are trusted to make their own pregnancy decisions.
Each of us should be able to live, work, and make decisions about our health and our future with unrestricted access to resources and support. When people can make decisions about their own reproductive health care, including whether and when to have children, they have more control over their health, education, economic security, and equality of all South Carolinians.
Take action today to tell your legislators to support S.1348; this is the health care bill South Carolina needs, not another deeply unpopular abortion ban.
