STATEMENT FROM ANN WARNER, CEO OF WOMEN’S RIGHTS & EMPOWERMENT NETWORK ON THE HOUSE JUDICIAL COMMITTEE ADVANCING H. 3774
by WREN on Feb 8, 2023
February 7, 2023 (PRESS STATEMENT) Columbia, SC – The South Carolina House Judicial Committee voted today 16-7 to advance H. 3774, a near-total abortion ban. In response to today’s committee vote, WREN has released the following statement:
Ann Warner, CEO of Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network (WREN)
Today’s vote of the South Carolina House Judiciary Committee to advance a radical abortion ban is an insult to South Carolinians and a direct threat to our health, lives, and fundamental freedoms. Time after time, these legislators choose their own personal and political agendas over the best interests of the people they are elected to serve. We thank the Representatives who spoke today to raise the many medical, legal, and privacy issues with this ban — and all abortion bans. WREN is profoundly disappointed with the 16 legislators on the committee who showed with their votes that they are not listening and do not care about the health and well-being of the people of South Carolina.
WREN will continue to fight against any abortion ban that puts our health and freedom on the line for political points.
