State of the State Address to Air on January 13th

Jan 13, 2021

What is the State of the State?

This is an annual address given by the Governor to report on the economic health of the state and recognize events and individuals from the previous year.   The State of the State serves both a political and administrative purpose. It is tradition for the Governor to address the General Assembly at the beginning of the year.  In recent years, Governors have used this address as an opportunity to give broad policy goals in relation to the state budget. The #SCSOTS2021  is a lot like the annual State of the Union address given by the President before Congress. Like the State of the Union, the minority party has the opportunity to respond in an address that is aired afterward.

Governor Henry McMaster will address a joint convening of the House and Senate on Wednesday, January 13th at 7pm.  SCETV will air the address beginning at 7pm, captioning is available.  Full text of the address is usually available shortly after the event ends.

WREN will cover the address and its response live on our Twitter feed, make sure to follow us @WRENetwork.
