#WRENThisTogether: Building a Movement…and a Mullet.
by Kate Mayer on May 5, 2020
Whew, WHAT. A. DAY. Midlands Gives 2020 has been one for the books—we were bestowed the magical unicorn known as a “Cheerful Giver” matching gift, donor outreach nearly screeched to a halt when our database crashed, and we pulled it all together while sitting at our makeshift desks working from home. And thanks to our passionate and generous network, we’ve raised more money from more donors this Midlands Gives than in years past!
We’re so grateful because the support is needed now more than ever. There is no easy fix for the devastation women and their families are experiencing during COVID-19, and this will not only be a “right now” problem; it will have economic, educational, and health consequences for years to come. With sustained attention and investment, we have an opportunity to repair some of our deepest inequities and rebuild a community that will protect and support all who make South Carolina home.
So, we’re getting…creative…during our final push of Midlands Gives fundraising for our #WRENThisTogether COVID-19 Crisis Response campaign. I’ll let Melissa Moore, WREN’s Lowcountry Manager and all-around good sport, explain in the video below:
To support WREN and applaud Melissa’s courageous dedication, you can donate on their Midlands Gives champion page. Together, we can build a movement that advances the health, economic well-being, and rights of South Carolina’s women, girls, and their families. And together, we can build Melissa’s mullet.
In solidarity,
Kate
