BREAKING: 6-week abortion ban receives favorable report in subcommittee vote
Today the Senate Medical Affairs subcommittee voted to move forward a six-week abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest. This vote demonstrates a profound disrespect for the health and safety of South Carolinians, and total disregard for the countless objections raised by doctors, lawyers, patients, parents, and concerned citizens over the last month. (see below)
Now is the time to speak up, louder than ever. The bill will be heard by the full Senate Medical Affairs Committee on November 5th. This is the last step before the bill would move to the Senate floor. Let’s remind lawmakers that the majority of South Carolinians oppose unnecessary and unconstitutional restrictions on abortion. Your support, both in time and money, is vital to this work.
Will you pitch in $20 today? Your gift will be put to work immediately to educate lawmakers and advocates, elevate the voices of South Carolinians, stand with survivors of violence, and make the message clear that this radical and dangerous ban has no place in South Carolina.
Thank you for all you do.
