Add Contraception to Budget

by Megan Plassmeyer on Jan 11, 2018

This week the South Carolina House voted on whether our state’s budget would continue to exclude birth control coverage for dependents on the state health plan. Although a majority of House members voted in favor of contraceptive access (56-44), more support was needed in order to override this dangerous budget cut.

We have another opportunity to make sure dependents are covered in the state health plan.  Email Rep. Murrell Smith today and ask him to add this line item to this year’s budget.

Contraception is a key component to allowing women to complete their education or to get and keep a job. Coverage of this essential healthcare should not be different for any member of the health plan.

Let’s stand together today and support a healthier, more prosperous South Carolina.
